2 Killed in 3-Vehicle Crash on La Brea Avenue
BALDWIN HILLS, Calif. (March 11, 2024) — A man and woman are dead and others suffered minor injuries in a fatal crash in Baldwin Hills on La Brea Avenue.
UPDATE: David Coleman II, 52, and Karrington Coleman, 23, of Norwalk, both died in the Baldwin Hills crash.
The multi-vehicle collision occurred at around 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 9th, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The drivers of a Mercedes Benz, a black BMW sedan and a blue Honda sedan were involved.
Two people riding in a Mercedes Benz were allegedly traveling at high speed northbound on La Brea Avenue when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, KTLA 5 News reports.
The motorist reportedly collided with a second car that was waiting to turn left onto Coliseum Street. Upon impact, the Mercedes hit a third vehicle and overturned onto its roof.
The two people from the Mercedes suffered major injuries and died at the scene.
Meanwhile, the people from the other two vehicles were treated on scene for minor injuries, police said.
Authorities closed down the northbound lanes of La Brea Avenue due to the fatal Baldwin Hills crash.
Tow trucks responded to remove the vehicles including the Honda with serious damage to the back of the driver’s side and the BMW with all-over damage.
