Hit-and-Run Driver Kills Bicyclist in Van Nuys

VAN NUYS (May 7, 2024) – A man in his 40s died in a hit-and-run bicycle accident on Woodley Avenue near Burbank Boulevard in the Van Nuys and Lake Balboa area.

The fatal crash occurred at around 8 p.m. on Friday, May 3rd on Woodley Avenue between Victory and Burbank boulevards, according to the Los Angeles Police Department and LA Daily News.

Authorities reported a driver in a silver-colored SUV was traveling southbound on Woodley Avenue at high speed when it struck the man riding on a bicycle.

The man sustained major injuries and died at the scene. The Los Angeles County Sheriff Coroner will release his name after notification of his family.

Meanwhile, investigators are searching for the driver who fled the scene of the deadly collision.

Detectives are asking witnesses to call the LAPD’s Valley Traffic Division at 818-644-8000.
