Man Killed in Crash on Highway 18 in Big Bear City
BIG BEAR CITY, Calif. (May 12, 2022) — A man riding as a passenger in a vehicle died early Wednesday morning in a fatal crash on Highway 18 in Big Bear City.
The collision occurred at 3:52 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officers responded to Highway 18 near Dump Access Road. A vehicle reportedly went off the roadway and crashed into a wooden post. The driver reportedly called family members at 4:36 a.m. to advise them he had been in a collision and was lost in the woods.
Meanwhile, police located a passenger in the vehicle described only as a Hispanic male suffering from major injuries.
He was pronounced deceased on scene at 4:18 am., police said.
Authorities have not yet released the name of the victim.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
