
BYRON, Calif. (Jan. 20, 2023) — A fatal Byron crash on Marsh Creek Road (Highway 4) happened Friday morning at Hoffman Lane.
The multi-vehicle crash occurred on State Route 4 also known as Marsh Creek Lane, at 9:42 a.m. on Jan. 20th, according to a California Highway Patrol dispatch.
Someone called 911 to report a driver in a red sedan reportedly entered Highway 4 from Hoffman Lane and pulled into the path of an 18-wheel semi-truck, the report said. A witness also told CHP operators that a brown sedan cut off the red car and caused it to crash into the truck.
The 36,000-pounds semi-truck crashed into the car and at least one person died in the crash.
Paramedics with the Contra Costa County Fire Department responded to help those injured in the crash, but there were no further details. At least one person died in the crash.
Meanwhile, tow trucks responded to remove all of the vehicles. The big rig truck suffered major front-end damage in the wreck and two others including the red car were demolished.
Furthermore, investigators are working on the case and will determine if speed, distractions or alcohol are factors in the collision.
