Motorcyclist Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on 91 Freeway in Cerritos
CERRITOS, Calif. (April 15, 2024) — A fatal Cerritos motorcycle accident happened Monday on the Artesia 91 Freeway, just west of Bloomfield Avenue.
The collision occurred at around 5:03 a.m. on April 15th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The motorcyclist reportedly collided with a crashed minivan that was blocking the carpool and number one lanes.
Paramedics performed chest compressions on the injured motorcyclist at the scene and then transported the man to a hospital, but he died either on the way or upon arrival.
CHP officials were first alerted to a large 4 x 4 metal crate in the No. 4 lane at around 5 a.m., the report said. Next, a few minutes later they were told a minivan tried to avoid the debris and crashed into the center divider of the freeway. The minivan wound up sideways in the HOV and No. 1 traffic lanes. That’s when the motorcyclist crashed into the stopped minivan.
Meanwhile, a driver in a gray Chevrolet Impala was also stopped on the right shoulder and may have witnessed the collision and or been involved.
Finally, investigators are working on the case and will determine liability for the fatal Cerritos motorcycle accident on the 91 Freeway.
