Box Truck, Van Crash on State Route 71
CHINO HILLS, Calif. (May 6, 2024) — A fatal crash involving a box truck and white minivan happened Monday on the Chino Hills 71 Freeway, just north of Euclid Avenue.
The two-vehicle collision occurred at around 8:40 a.m. on May 6th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported the white Ford Express van and white box truck collided due to unknown circumstances and the truck went off the freeway into an embankment on the right shoulder.
Paramedics responded to the scene and closed down the Nos. 1 and 2 lanes of the freeway due to the crash, but the carpool lane remained open to traffic. CHP officials also closed down the Euclid on ramp to the northbound SR-71.
One person died at the crash scene and it’s unknown if others were transported to a hospital.
Investigators are working to determine fault for the Chino Hills crash on the 71 Freeway.
