Deadly Crash on 55 Freeway at 17th Street
ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. (Feb. 8, 2022) — A fatal Costa Mesa (55) Freeway crash happened Tuesday morning near the 17th Street off ramp in Costa Mesa.
The collision happened in the southbound lanes of the 55 Freeway about 11:25 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. It’s unknown how many vehicles were involved or if
Metro Net Fire Authority responded with paramedics to the freeway, but sadly at least one person died at the scene.
By 11:44 a.m., authorities requested a response from the Orange County Sheriff Coroner. The CHP report does not confirm the victim’s age, gender or identity at this time. There are no further details about the fatal 55 Freeway crash at this time.
Investigators are working on the case and will determine liability for the person’s death.
