One Killed in 55 Freeway Crash in Costa Mesa
COSTA MESA, Calif. (June 17, 2021) – A fatal Costa Mesa crash on the Costa Mesa (55) Freeway Wednesday night involved a pickup truck and a motorcycle.
UPDATED: Adam Whalen, 34, of Santa Ana, died in the Costa Mesa crash, according to the Orange County Sheriff Coroner.
The traffic accident happened about 10:11 p.m. on Wednesday, June 16th near the Corona Del Mar (73) Freeway connector and Baker Street on-ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol. The motorcycle rider, later identified as Adam Whalen, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene of the crash.
The report did not provide many details regarding the cause of the fatal Costa Mesa crash, however, investigators are working to determine fault.
Meanwhile, the age, gender and the victim’s name will be released after relatives are notified.
