3-Vehicle Car Accident on Hollywood 101 Freeway
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (April 15, 2024) — Jacob Fuerte, 22, died in a hit-and-run crash after exiting his vehicle Monday morning on the Hollywood 101 Freeway, just north of Lankershim Boulevard in Studio City.
The incident followed a multi-vehicle collision on the northbound Highway 101 at around 5:11 a.m. on April 15th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported the drivers of a white semi-truck or pickup hauling a trailer, a black Jeep and a silver Toyota Corolla were involved in the initial collision. The report stated a vehicle crashed into a construction truck, but there are no further details. Two people were hospitalized after the collision.
However, the 22-year-old man had stopped after the crash and was struck by another vehicle passing by the crash scene, but that driver failed to stop.
The Los Angeles Fire Department sent firefighters and paramedics to the crash scene, but unfortunately at least Jacob Fuerte was pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP said.
It was later determined that the victim was a Los Angeles Fire Department recruit who was heading to the Drill Tower Fire Academy. Firefighters from the LAFD conducted a procession later that day to transport him to .
Meanwhile, police issued a SigAlert for roughly two hours at 6:24 a.m. for the Nos. 3 and 4 lanes of the freeway.
Investigators are working on the case and hope to locate the suspect who fled after the fatal crash on the Hollywood 101 Freeway.
