Car Crashes into Fuel Tanker Truck in Hesperia
HESPERIA, Calif. (Nov. 22, 2021) — A fatal crash on the Interstate 15 Freeway Monday morning happened near Oak Hill Road in Hesperia.
The deadly crash happened about 6:45 a.m. on Nov. 22nd in the Cajon Pass, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
The CHP reported a driver in a silver Hyundai Accent crashed into a fuel tanker truck stopped on the right shoulder of the roadway. Witnesses told authorities they saw the silver car traveling at high speeds prior to the crash. The vehicle attempted to pass a slower semi-truck on the right shoulder, but crashed into the fuel tanker and caught on fire, the report said. The driver in the Hyundai became trapped in their car as it caught on fire from the impact. Sadly, the person died at the scene of the collision.

Meanwhile, the double fuel tanker truck suffered moderate rear damage in the collision. The CHP report did not mention if the truck driver or anyone else suffered injuries in the collision.
Police issued a SigAlert due to the collision and requested the coroner respond. Also, tow trucks came to remove both of the damaged vehicles.
Liability for the fatal crash on Interstate 15 is under investigation.
