One Killed, 2 Hurt in Solo-Vehicle Crash on I-5 Freeway
SAN DIEGO COUNTY, Calif. (April 26, 2022) — A fatal crash on the Interstate 5 Freeway happened Monday afternoon on the Interstate 5 Freeway between Oceanside and Camp Pendleton.
One person is dead and two were injured in the solo-vehicle crash around 4:15 p.m. on Monday, April 25th, according to the San Diego Union Tribune.
A driver and two passengers traveling northbound in a gray Jeep Cherokee went off the freeway, just north of Harbor Drive, police said.
The SUV struck a tree and overturned before landing on its wheels. Paramedics with the Camp Pendleton fire department responded and transported the driver and one passenger by ambulance to an Orange County hospital, a California Highway Patrol dispatch said.
Authorities did not release the name of the person killed or the names of those hurt in the crash.
Meanwhile, two northbound lanes were closed down for about two hours.
Investigators are working on the case and will determine fault.
