Driver Hits Bicyclist at San Jose Intersection
SAN JOSE, Calif. (May 7, 2024) — A fatal San Jose bicycle accident happened Tuesday morning at Senter Road and East Capitol Expressway near Andrew Hill High School.
A man driving a red pickup truck allegedly drove through a red light at high speed and struck the bicyclist at the intersection at around 7:23 a.m. on May 7th, according to the San Jose Police Department.
Authorities say the driver was speeding while traveling westbound on the Capitol Expressway. The truck collided with the bicyclist and a northbound truck that was traveling on Senter Road.
Unfortunately, the man riding the bike suffered major injuries and died at the scene, police said.
The SJPD closed down the Capitol Expressway between Seven Trees Blvd and Tuers Road as well as Senter Road from Southside Drive to Singleton Road. The investigation into the bicycle accident on the Capitol Expressway is ongoing.
