Rollover Crash on I-5 Freeway in Irvine
ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. (May 7, 2024) — A multi-vehicle crash happened Tuesday afternoon on the northbound Interstate 5 Freeway, just south of Sand Canyon Road in Irvine.
The collision occurred at around 3:20 p.m. on May 7th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported a light blue Hyundai Elantra overturned several times in a collision with four other motorists. While the Hyundai landed back on its wheels, a tan Toyota Corolla was facing sideways in the left lanes. Also, there was a red pickup truck stopped in the center divider on the southbound side.
It’s unknown what led up to the collision that prompted a SigAlert for the right four lanes of the I-5 Freeway. Tow trucks removed the Toyota and Hyundai from the freeway.
Investigators are working to determine fault for the Irvine crash on the 5 Freeway.
