Deadly Crash on Highway 33 in Fresno County
MENDOTA, Calif. (Oct. 3, 2022) — Benedo Alfaro Vasquez, 22, of Mendota, died and another person was injured in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 33 in Mendota.
The Mendota car accident occurred on state Route 33 about 3 a.m. on Oct. 3rd at Bass Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported one of the two vehicles overturned onto its roof during the collision.
The Mendota Police Department sent officers to the scene and requested the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office send the coroner after they confirmed the death of Benedo Alfaro Vasquez. A second person suffered minor injuries, but there are no further details.
Meanwhile, authorities arrested one of the drivers identified as Gilbert Castro, 27, of Mendota on DUI charges.
Tow trucks removed both vehicles for evidence.
Meanwhile, investigators are working on the case to determine fault for the Mendota crash on Highway 33.
