3 Killed, 4 Injured in Head-on Crash on Highway 41
FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (April 22, 2024) — Three people were killed and a child, woman and two men were injured Friday in a crash on Highway 41 near Caruthers.
The deadly, two-vehicle crash occurred at around 7 p.m. on the southbound SR-41 at East Nebraska Avenue, according to ABC 30 News and the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities report the driver of a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck crossed the intersection and collided with a 2020 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck that was hauling a fifth-wheel travel trailer.
Mark Bruce, 57, of Fresno, was reportedly driving the Silverado and was among three people who died in the crash. Meanwhile, Dezirae Perez, 17, of Fresno, and Blanca Villegas Martinez, 18, of Selma, also died in the crash when they were ejected from the Silverado. A third unidentified female passenger survived and was airlifted to a trauma center due to major injuries. The three women were not wearing their seatbelts, police said.
Two men and a child were all injured in the crash. The 4-year-old boy riding in the Chevrolet pickup truck and A. Arakelyan, 40, who was in the Ram pickup were both taken to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno. Meanwhile, A. Hakopyan, 36, of Fresno, was taken to Adventist Health Selma.
Investigators do not know yet if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
