Fatal Truck Accident in Buttonwillow on Highway 43
BUTTONWILLOW, Calif. (July 8, 2021) — A fatal crash on Highway 43 happened early Thursday near Panama Lane in Buttonwillow.
The California Highway Patrol reports the drivers of two semi trucks and a vehicle collided about 5:13 a.m. on July 8th.
The trucks were traveling in opposite directions when for unknown reasons they collided. One of the trucks crashed into a tree and became fully engulfed in flames following the collision. Additionally, the truck fire spread to nearby power lines and the brush on the ground.

The report stated that one of the truck drivers died at the scene of the collision. A second truck driver suffered major injuries in the crash.
Police notified the coroner to respond about 5:45 a.m. about the fatal crash on Highway 43.
It’s unknown what led up to the multi-vehicle crash, however, investigators will piece together evidence and witness statements to determine fault.
