Man, 19, Killed; Driver, 34, Arrested on DUI Charges
VALLEY CENTER, Calif. (April 22, 2024) — A 19-year-old man died in a crash on Valley Center Road and West Tribal Road Friday night involving a suspected DUI driver in North County.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported to a two-vehicle accident just before 8:20 p.m. on Friday, April 19th at the Valley Center intersection, Fox 5 San Diego reports.
The young Valley Center man was reportedly driving a white Toyota Camry eastbound on West Tribal Road when his vehicle collided with a 34-year-old Ranchita man’s white Ford Expedition. The Ford was heading southbound on Valley Center Road when the two vehicles collided.
Paramedics responded to the crash scene, but unfortunately the 19-year-old driver from the Toyota died at the scene.
Meanwhile, the other driver in the Ford, identified as Fernando Porras Abrego, was not injured, police said.
Police suspected the driver from the Ford was drunk and arrested him on DUI charges. He was booked into the Vista Detention Facility.
The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office will eventually release the name of the man who died.
