Two Killed in Traffic Crash in South L.A. Area; Motorist Arrested
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (August 19, 2022) – A fatal crash happened early Friday on West Manchester Avenue in South Los Angeles.
Two people died in the 4:15 a.m. collision on August 19th. Also, authorities arrested a driver involved, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Paramedics responded to the 200 block of West Manchester Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Police attempted to pull over a driver in a Cadillac with two passengers who was allegedly speeding in the area. Instead, the man sped off, ran a red light at Broadway and collided broadside into a BMW occupied by a man and woman.
A man and a woman suffered major injuries and died at the scene. Their names were not released, but they are both in their 30s, police said.
Meanwhile, police arrested a man in his 20s who was driving the vehicle. Two other young people with him in the vehicle were detained.
Police did not release the man’s name or the charges filed against him.
Investigators continue to work on the case.
