2 Killed, 3 Injured in Collision on Garces Highway 155 (SR-155)
DELANO, Calif. (August 8, 2022) — Ray Segura, 33, and Fancy Renee Castro, 30, died following a collision on Garces Highway 155 early Monday at Melcher Road.
The deadly crash occurred just before 2 a.m. on August 6th, according to Bakersfield Now and the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities say a 17-year-old motorist allegedly drove a 2015 Dodge pickup truck through a stop sign and broadsided a Kia driven by Ray Segura. The two vehicles both crashed into a dirt field where Segura and his passenger, Fancy Castro, suffered fatal injuries. The 33-year-old driver and his 31-year-old passenger were later identified by the coroner.
Additionally, the teen driver suffered moderate injuries, a teenage passenger had moderate injuries and a 21-year-old passenger had major injuries from the crash.
Paramedics responded and rushed all three people to a hospital.
Meanwhile, investigators are working on the case and will determine fault for the collision.
It’s unknown at this time if drugs and or alcohol were factors in the crash.
