Porterville Woman Killed in Delano Collision on Highway 65
DELANO, Calif. (June 16, 2021) – A fatal Delano crash on Highway 65 happened Tuesday afternoon between two motorists.
The collision happened about 3:57 p.m. on June 15th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A 31-year-old Porterville woman died in the collision and a 52-year-old Lamont man suffered serious injuries, police said.
Detectives stated the man was allegedly speeding southbound on Highway 65 before his gray Honda Accord drifted over the double yellow lines and crashed into a northbound 2021 Nissan.
The Nissan driver attempted to avoid the crash, but was unable to. Police say the left front side of the Nissan collided with the left front of the Honda.
The Nissan eventually came to a stop in a dirt field and the Honda wound up stopped facing the wrong direction in the northbound lane.
Firefighters and paramedics responded and extricated the man from the Honda before he was transported to Kern Medical with major injuries.
However, the woman driving the Nissan died at the scene of the Delano crash on Highway 65. Authorities have not released her name pending notification of her family members.
