 Fatal Escondido Crash North Broadway, Country Club Lane

Boy, 13, Killed in 2-Vehicle Collision in Escondido

ESCONDIDO (April 29, 2024) — A 13-year-old boy died in an Escondido crash involving an alleged DUI driver at Broadway and Country Club Lane.

Several others were injured in the two-vehicle collision at around 10 p.m. on Saturday night, according to and SDUT and ABC 10 News.

The teenage boy suffered major injuries in the crash and was transported to Palomar Medical Center, but he did not survive.

Meanwhile, the driver of the car he was riding in, Alexander Tito Oroz, 20, was taken to Tri-City hospital with undisclosed injuries. He was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after the crash and also gross vehicular manslaughter, according to the Escondido Police Department.

Also, a man and a woman were taken by ambulances nearby hospitals with undisclosed injuries.

An investigation is underway by the Escondido Police Department’s Traffic Division to determine liability for the collision. Witnesses should call Escondido Police Collision Investigator Officer Paul Smyth at (760) 839-4423.
