1 Dead; 1 Injured in Semi-Truck Versus Car Crash in Firebaugh
FIREBAUGH, Calif. (August 16, 2021) — A fatal Firebaugh car accident happened Monday on Dos Palos Road also known as Highway 33 in Fresno County.
The collision happened on Hwy 33 about 3:25 a.m. near Douglas Avenue when a semi-truck hauling tomatoes collided with a car due to unknown circumstances, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Both of the vehicles caught on fire and the car was fully engulfed in flames. One person in the car suffered fatal injuries on scene, but the truck driver survived with undisclosed injuries. Paramedics transported the injured truck driver to Madera Community Hospital.
Tomato Truck Involved in Firebaugh Crash on Highway 33
The age and gender of the person who died is unavailable at this time. The identity of the person will be released after relatives are notified of the deadly crash.
The vehicles blocked the highway and tomatoes and debris scattered in the roadway, police said.
The agencies responding to the fatal Firebaugh car accident included the CHP, Mendota Police Department and Firebaugh Police Department.
Investigators seek to determine the cause of the crash and liability.
