Fiery Crash Sierra Ave to 10 Freeway in Fontana
FONTANA, Calif. (June 29, 2021) — A fatal Fontana car accident happened Tuesday on the Interstate 10 Freeway.
The collision happened about 4:13 a.m. on Tuesday, June 29, according to the California Highway Patrol. A vehicle crashed through the east side wall of the Sierra Avenue on ramp bridge and fell down to the eastbound 10 Freeway below.
The traffic accident took place in the area of Sierra Avenue and the eastbound I-10 Freeway. At least one person died in the crash, but there were no further details. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office sent the coroner to the crash scene. Subsequently, the vehicle became engulfed in flames due to the collision.
All lanes of the 1o freeway at Sierra Avenue were temporarily blocked due to the crash and subsequent investigation.
The westbound lanes reopened by 9 a.m., but the I-10 eastbound remained closed due to the investigation. Meanwhile, the southbound side of Sierra Avenue to the I-10 eastbound on-ramp remained closed for bridge repairs.
