Raymundo Martinez Struck, Killed at Fresno County Intersection
FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (Nov. 15, 2022) — A fatal Fresno County pedestrian accident happened Monday night near Elm Avenue and North Avenue.
A driver struck Raymundo Martinez, 45, of Fresno, who was walking in the middle of the road about 6 p.m. on Nov. 14th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities are investigating whether or not the victim was distracted by his cell phone as he entered the roadway and was struck by a motorist in a a Toyota Corolla, according to Fox 26 News.
The driver was reportedly traveling about 40 mph at the time of the collision. The motorist told investigators they did not see the pedestrian in the roadway before the crash.
Authorities are looking into whether the pedestrian was distracted at the time of the collision, but also will determine liability.
