Fatal Explosion in Fullerton at NTS Building on East Valencia Drive
FULLERTON, Calif. (May 28, 2021) — A fatal Fullerton explosion at National Technical Systems on East Valencia Drive happened Thursday morning.
A 29-year-old Lynwood man identified as Jesse Siordia died in the explosion. Also, another NTS employee suffered smoke inhalation injuries.
A fire erupted following the explosion at the large testing facility building where numerous employees worked, according to the Orange County Register.
One Killed, One Injured in Fullerton Explosion
Firefighters arrived about 9:13 a.m.to search for victims at 1534 East Valencia Drive in Fullerton, but it was too late for Jesse Siordia who died in the burning structure before they were able to get him to a hospital.
Anaheim Fire and Rescue had the flames under control within 30 minutes of their arrival at the explosion at National Technical Systems. Meanwhile, hazardous materials teams also responded to contain chemicals dispersed by the blast, authorities said.
It’s unknown at this time what caused the fiery explosion, but investigators are working on the case.
