Teenage Girl, 14, Killed in Crash on Carson Road in Apple Hill
EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. (Feb. 9, 2022) — A fatal hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Carson Road in the Apple Hill area of El Dorado County, just west of the community of Camino.
A driver struck and killed a 14-year-old girl walking along Carson Road about 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 8th. She was reportedly facing traffic and walking on the narrow shoulder of the two-lane road where the speed limit is 45 mph.
A westbound driver in a white Honda CR-V allegedly swerved off the roadway and struck her. Then the driver failed to stop and reportedly fled the scene. The teenager suffered severe injuries and died. A few hours later, the suspected driver turned himself in to authorities, the California Highway Patrol said.
The Pollock Pines man who fled the scene was arrested and booked on suspicion of felony voluntary manslaughter and causing bodily injury while driving under the influence of alcohol.
He is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail.
The Carson Road pedestrian accident remains under investigation.
