Man Riding Electric Scooter Killed
LONG BEACH, Calif. (May 6, 2024) – A fatal scooter versus car accident happened early Saturday in Long Beach at Ximeno Avenue and Shaw Street.
The deadly crash occurred at around 6:20 a.m. on Saturday, May 4th at the Long Beach intersection, according to a press release by the Long Beach Police Department.
Authorities say a woman driving a Ford C-Max was traveling southbound on Ximeno Avenue. Meanwhile, a man riding the electric scooter was also in the roadway. The car reportedly struck the victim due to unknown circumstances.
Paramedics responded and rushed the injured man to a hospital, however, he died from his injuries. The Los Angeles County Sheriff Coroner will release his name after relatives are notified.
Police say the woman driving the Ford stopped and cooperated with investigators.
Detectives are working to determine whether or not the man on the scooter rode through a stop sign at the intersection before he was hit.
