Woman Killed in Hit-and-run Crash on Martin Luther King Jr. Way
MERCED, Calif. (March 31, 2022) – A fatal Merced hit-and-run pedestrian accident happened on Tuesday night on Martin Luther King Jr. Way at 14th Street.
The crash happened about 10 p.m. on March 30th, according to the Merced Police Department.
Someone called 911 to report a pedestrian had been hit by an SUV.
Police responded and located a woman thought to be in her 40s with major injuries in the roadway.
Police officers attempted to save her life, but she was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses told authorities a driver in an SUV had hit the woman, but fled the scene without stopping to help her or call for help.
Meanwhile, a few blocks away, police located the SUV and towed it for evidence. It’s unknown if the involved motorist has been located or not.
