BIG SUR, Calif. (April 5, 2023) –Troy Swinnock, 53, died in a motorcycle accident Wednesday morning on Cabrillo Highway 1, in Big Sur near the entrance to Point Sur State Historic Park and Naval Facility.
The two-vehicle crash occurred on State Route 1 around 6:12 a.m. on April 5th, between Carmel and San Simeon, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
Someone called 911 to report a pickup truck hit a motorcycle rider and the rider was down in front of the GMC Sierra 2500 pickup truck in the roadway. The 53-year-old Miranda man riding a Harley Davidson was traveling southbound on Highway 1, KION News reports. Meanwhile, the pickup driver was making a left-hand turn into the Naval Facility. The rider crashed into the pickup truck and fell off the bike into the roadway.
Troy Swinnock suffered major injuries and died at the scene. It’s unknown what led up to the collision at this time, but investigators are on the scene piecing together what happened.
Meanwhile, tow tow trucks came to remove the bike and the truck from the roadway. Also, police requested the coroner responded to the scene.
