Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on Winter Gardens Boulevard
LAKESIDE, Calif. (April 18, 2024) — A fatal motorcycle accident involving a pickup truck happened Tuesday night on Winter Gardens Boulevard in Lakeside.
The two-vehicle collision occurred at around 8:05 p.m. on April 16th, according to the California Highway Patrol and the Times of San Diego.
A man was reportedly riding a 2005 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R was traveling southbound in the No. 1 lane on Winter Gardens Boulevard at a high rate of speed, police said.
Meanwhile, a 28-year-old Lakeside man driving a 2013 Ford F-150 pickup truck reportedly entered the southbound No. 1 lane of Winter Gardens Boulevard from a public driveway.
The truck pulled into the path of the motorcyclist, just north of Lemon Crest Drive, police said.
The motorcyclist reportedly crashed into the back of the pickup truck and both vehicles caught on fire and became engulfed in flames, police said.
Paramedics responded and rushed the motorcycle rider to UCSD Medical Center where he later died from his injuries, police said.
Meanwhile, the driver and passenger from the Ford truck did not report any injuries.
Investigators are working on the case to determine fault and the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the victim’s name after notifying relatives.
