Fatal Pedestrian Accident 73 Freeway, MacArthur Boulevard in Newport Beach

Woman Struck, Killed on 73 Freeway in Newport Beach

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (March 22, 2024) — A fatal pedestrian accident happened Friday morning on the 73 Freeway at MacArthur Boulevard in Newport Beach.

The traffic accident occurred at around 8:45 a.m. on March 22nd, just south of Jamboree Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officials responded to the southbound State Route 73 and located a woman face down in the right lane with injuries. Metro Net Fire Authorities responded with paramedics, but the woman sustained fatal injuries on scene.

A driver in a black Toyota 4Runner SUV reportedly struck the woman in traffic lanes and stopped after the collision.

The Newport Beach Police Department was on the scene and heading up an investigation into the traffic accident to determine what led to the crash.

The case remains under investigation to determine fault.
