Man, 51, Struck and Killed on Lincoln Avenue

ORANGE, Calif. (Feb. 29, 2024) — A suspected DUI driver struck and killed a pedestrian Friday night on Lincoln Avenue, just west of Berkeley Street in Orange.

The 51-year-old Anaheim man was hit by one or more vehicles at around 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 23rd, the California Highway Patrol said.

The 60-year-old Yorba Linda man driving a Ford pickup truck struck the victim in the eastbound lanes of Lincoln Avenue, the CHP said.

Authorities investigating the crash believe the pedestrian stepped into the path of the truck from the center divider.

Meanwhile, the pedestrian sustained major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. However, the Orange County Sheriff Coroner has not released his name.

Police are also looking into whether a second motorist struck the victim and fled the scene. However, the first driver stopped and cooperated with police and the investigation.

Police arrested the driver on suspicion of causing injury while driving under the influence.
