Man, 78, Killed in Salinas Pedestrian Accident
SALINAS, Calif. (Oct. 22, 2021) — A fatal Salinas pedestrian accident happened Friday morning on Laurel Drive near Granada Avenue.
A 78-year-old man died in the crash after being struck by the motorist crossing Laurel Drive, according to KION News.
Additionally, Salinas police officers responded to the scene where they located the injured man in the roadway. A driver in a red Toyota Prius struck the victim in the crosswalk. It appears that the man died at the scene. Also, authorities will release his name after relatives are notified.
Salinas Crash Investigation
Investigators say the driver is cooperating with the investigation. Additionally, officials do not suspect drugs and or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
Meanwhile, authorities closed down Laurel Drive between Linwood Drive to Ramona Avenue for several hours to investigate the cause of the fatal Salinas pedestrian accident and liability.
Police did not mention any other injuries from the deadly pedestrian collision.
