Deadly Crash on SR-163 in Downtown San Diego

SAN DIEGO (Feb. 28, 2024) — A fatal pedestrian accident happened early Wednesday on southbound State Route 163, near downtown San Diego.

The traffic accident occurred at around 5:40 a.m. on Feb. 28th, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officials stated a driver struck the man who was walking in traffic lanes near the center divide of the highway, Fox 5 News reports.

The road was closed down and drivers were diverted off State Route 163 to the Interstate 5 Freeway.

Investigators are working to determine fault for the San Diego pedestrian accident on State Route 163.
