Pedestrian Struck, Killed on Monterey Highway in San Martin
SAN MARTIN, Calif. (April 23, 2024) — A fatal pedestrian accident happened Tuesday morning on Monterey Highway, just north of San Martin.
The collision occurred in the southbound lanes in front of 13455 Monterey Highway at around 5:20 a.m. on April 23nd in Santa Clara County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A 55-year-old Windsor man driving a 1998 Ford Windstar called 911 to report “something hit their windshield” and the sheriff’s office responded to find a pedestrian deceased on the scene.
The victim was a 56-year-old Gilroy man, but he has not been identified. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will release his name after notifying relatives.
A tow truck removed the damaged vehicle and authorities closed down the Nos. 1 and 2 lanes between Roosevelt and Burbank avenues to investigate what happened.
