2-Vehicle Crash on State Route 55 at SR-22 in Orange County
SANTA ANA, Calif. (Dec. 30, 2021) — A fatal Santa Ana crash on the State Route 55 Freeway happened Thursday morning between two vehicles.
The collision happened about 2:50 a.m. on Dec. 30th on SR-55 near the transition to the westbound State Route 22 Freeway. The collision occurred near the border of Santa Ana and Orange, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Fatal 55 Freeway Crash in Orange County
CHP officials reported a driver reportedly crossed over from the southbound 55 freeway into the northbound 55 Freeway. One of the vehicles involved is a silver Honda sedan, but there is no further information on the second vehicle.
Paramedics with Metro Net Fire Authority responded to the scene to help those hurt in the fatal 55 Freeway crash. At least one person reported died at the crash scene.
Meanwhile, investigators closed down the northbound SR-55 at the transition to SR-22 to work on the case.
