Multi-Vehicle Fatal Crash on Highway 12 in Santa Rosa Area
SANTA ROSA, Calif. (August 10, 2022) — Alani Aguilar, 24, of Santa Rosa, died in a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 12 at Dutton Avenue Wednesday morning in the Roseland area of Santa Rosa.
At least three vehicles were involved in the crash on the eastbound side of Highway 12, according to the California Highway Patrol dispatch.
The CHP reported the crash about 8:04 a.m. on August 10th.
One news report stated a white Safeway delivery box truck was approaching stopped traffic and was unable to stop before hitting a Nissan driven by Alani Aguilar, according to a report by the Press Democrat.
The box truck overturned onto its side and blocked both lanes of the roadway. Meanwhile, the Nissan sedan overturned onto its roof and wound up against the right guardrail. Also, a Nissan pickup suffered major rear-end damage in the crash.
Paramedics responded due to injuries, but Alani Aguilar, 24, of Santa Rosa, died at the scene. There are no further details about those hurt in the collision.
Authorities diverted traffic off of Highway 12 onto Dutton Avenue as both eastbound lanes were blocked by the crash.
Investigators are working on the case to determine fault.
