
VALLEJO, Calif. (March 9, 2023) — A pedestrian died in a fatal Vallejo crash on the Interstate 80 Freeway early Thursday morning, just east of the Carquinez Bridge Toll Plaza.
The deadly collision occurred in the eastbound lanes of the I-80 around 4:01 a.m. on March 9th, according to the California Highway Patrol and SF Gate.
CHP officials issued a SigAlert at 4:38 a.m. and closed down the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80, the report said. The pedestrian was reportedly hit by multiple vehicles while attempting to cross the I-80 near the Sonoma Boulevard off-ramp.
Pedestrian Killed in Vallejo Crash 80 Freeway
The initial report indicated there was a collision blocking roadway and a vehicle was not drivable. Additionally, the motorist called 911 to report the Vallejo crash on the 80 Freeway and called a tow truck, however, the person was unable to move the vehicle out of the traffic lane.
Next, another vehicle, possibly a pickup truck, stopped and or collided with the first vehicle around 4:33 a.m., the CHP said.
Also, by 4:49 a.m., the CHP requested the coroner respond to the scene of the crash.
There is no further information about the Vallejo crash at this time, but the story will be updated as more information is released.
