Daniel Cortez, 23, Killed; Woman, 23, Arrested
LOMPOC, Calif. (March 12, 2024) — Gezel Viveros, 23, of Lompoc, has been arrested on hit-and-run charges after she allegedly fled the scene of the fatal crash near Beattie Park on Olive Avenue in Lompoc.
Authorities arrested the young woman on Monday after determining she struck the victim identified as 23-year-old Daniel Arias Cortez at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 10th before fleeing the scene, Noozhawk reported.
The victim was transported to Lompoc Valley Medical Center and then Marian Regional Medical Center where he died.
Gezel Viveros reportedly has a child with the victim, but there are no further details.
There is an ongoing investigation into the death of Cortez.
