Driver, 2 Passengers Killed in Rialto Head-on Crash; 1 Injured
RIALTO, Calif. (June 30, 2021) – Guadalupe Noriega, 26, and two of her three passengers died Monday morning in a head-on collision in Rialto.
A total of three people died and one was injured in the 3-vehicle crash about 7:30 a.m. on Monday, June 28. The passengers who died are identified as Lashon Gardner, 33, of Barstow and Salvador Lopez, 20, of Fontana.
Additionally, the deadly crash happened in the 2500 block of South Riverside Avenue near Santa Ana Avenue.
Guadalupe Noriega was driving a 2020 Nissan Altima southbound on Riverside Avenue with three passengers.
Police believe she was traveling at high speed when an abrupt turn caused her to clip the back of a Dodge Ram truck.
Upon impact, the Nissan Altima veered into opposing traffic on the northbound side of Riverside Avenue. That’s where the car collided head-on with a box truck.
Deadly Rialto Car Crash on South Riverside Avenue
Three people riding in the Nissan Altima including Guadalupe Noriega and two male passengers were pronounced dead at the scene.
A 21-year-old Fontana woman also riding in the Nissan suffered major injuries. Paramedics transported her by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
Police closed down the westbound lanes of the freeway due to an ensuing fire that spread from the crash to the shoulder of the roadway.
