Suspected DUI Driver Arrested; Motorcyclist Hospitalized
HESPERIA, Calif. (March 5, 2024) — A motorcycle rider was critically injured Monday afternoon after a suspected DUI driver made a left-hand turn into his path at Mariposa Road and Maple Avenue in Hesperia.
The two-vehicle collision occurred at around 2:13 p.m. on Monday, March 4th, according to Victor Valley News Group.
A woman driving a black 4-door 1999 Oldsmobile Aurora was heading southbound on Mariposa Road when she allegedly turned left in front of the oncoming northbound black 2007 Suzuki GSX-R750.
The two vehicles collided and upon impact the bike also veer into a parked Jeep SUV in the Pacific Eye Institute parking lot.
The San Bernardino County Fire Department sent firefighters and paramedics to the crash scene to help the rider who suffered major injuries. An ambulance transported the injured man to Desert Valley Hospital where he was then airlifted to a trauma center.
Officers from the Hesperia Police Department conducted a field sobriety test on the female driver from the Oldsmobile and she was taken away in handcuffs.
The Hesperia Police Department is heading up the investigation into the accident on Mariposa Road.
