2 Killed in Solo-Vehicle Crash on Port Chicago Highway
CONCORD, Calif. (Nov. 3, 2021) — Jimmy Tello, 37, of Concord, and his passenger, Katherine Hermoza, 51, of Concord, both died in a solo crash on Port Chicago Highway in Concord.
The deadly collision happened about 1:45 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 1, according to the California Highway Patrol.
They were both riding in a vehicle that crashed into a pole as it headed north on Port Chicago Highway near High School Avenue, police said.
The woman, who was a front-seat passenger in the vehicle, suffered major injuries and died at the scene. Authorities identified her the following day as Katherine Hermoza, 51, of Concord.
Meanwhile, Jimmy Tello, 37, was hospitalized with major injuries. He subsequently died at the hospital.
Authorities investigating the crash ordered the closure of northbound lanes on Port Chicago Highway between High School Avenue and N. Sixth Street.
The roadway remained closed for roughly three hours, police said.
Police did not immediately release the names of the man and woman until Tuesday, Nov. 2 rd.
