Passenger Killed in Torrey Pines Road Crash Identified
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (May 3, 2022) – Johnny Ildefonzo Punzalan, 19, of Lake Elsinore, is one of two who died in a solo-vehicle collision on Monday, April 25th on Torrey Pines Road in San Diego.
The deadly, crash happened about 11 p.m. on April 25th, according to the San Diego Union Tribune.
The teenage was identified on the San Diego Medical Examiner’s website.
Joshua Adonai Manzanares, 19, of Lake Elsinore, also died in the collision.
A third 19-year-old man was driving a 2020 Subaru WRX carrying a total of four passengers including Punzalan and Manzanares. The unidentified driver of the vehicle was reportedly speeding and its driver lost control before it went off the roadway and crashed into a center median. The vehicle struck a guardrail and overturned on Torrey Pines State Beach. The two teens who died were unrestrained and ejected from the vehicle. Meanwhile, three other teens suffered serious injuries in the collision.
Police stated the vehicle “went over the ledge, struck multiple rocks, and came to rest on the beach.”
Three Injured in San Diego Crash
Meanwhile, two other passengers in the vehicle survived with serious injuries. San Diego Fire-Rescue Department responded and transported the injured to a hospital. Aaron Mccray, 18, was one of the two who survived with serious injuries. He suffered a broken hip, femur, ankle injuries and internal bleeding.
The second injured teen suffered serious injuries as well. Finally, the driver suffered minor injuries and police are working to determine if alcohol and or drugs were a factor.
