Law Firm Adopts 2 Families for Christmas

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (Dec. 20, 2017) -- Most of us are fortunate and will spend the holidays and Christmas with family this year and the biggest hurdle we face is finding a parking spot at the mall or that perfect gift. Unfortunately, there are thousands of families here in Orange County who are less fortunate and are struggling just to put food on the table. Johnson Attorneys Group wanted to do something special this year to reach out to some of these families. Attorney James Johnson and 12 members of our personal injury law firm in Newport Beach, together adopted two families through the Share Our Selves 48^th annual Adopt A Family program. James Johnson provided gift cards for the families to buy groceries and a holiday meal and staff members bought gifts for each member of the two families with four children ranging from two newborns who needed bottles and diapers to an 11-year-old boy who just wanted a cool skateboard for Christmas. The Christmas lists were filled with modest requests for warm clothing, shoes and maternity clothing for the adults to Barbie dolls, soccer balls, baby toys and coloring books for the youngest ones. The Costa Mesa-based nonprofit organization has been helping struggling families in Orange County for nearly 50 years by reaching out to the community for donations of food and gifts. Roughly 3,000 hours of volunteer work keeps the program running each year. Since its inception in 1970, the Share Our Selves has helped more than 50,000 families and this year roughly 1,500 were helped. The families are all recommended by organizations and schools in the cities of Santa Ana and Costa Mesa.
