Motorcycle Rider Killed in Crash on May 28th in El Cajon
EL CAJON, Calif. (June 8, 2021) — Jonathan Guzman Lopez, 24, of Lakeside, died in an El Cajon motorcycle crash on Johnson Avenue.
The young man died shortly after the 8 a.m. collision with a truck at 200 North Johnson Avenue. The two-vehicle crash happened just north of West Main Street, according to the San Diego Union Tribune.
The San Diego Police Department investigation indicates the motorcyclist was northbound on North Johnson when a driver in a Chevrolet work truck began to make a left-hand turn in front of the motorcycle rider. Jonathan Guzman Lopez attempted to swerve out of the way, but could not avoid hitting the truck, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner. The truck driver’s actions reportedly violated “the motorcyclist’s right of way, causing a collision” police said in a statement.
Furthermore, despite efforts by police and paramedics provided CPR to the motorcyclist, however, he died at the scene.
Meanwhile, the Chevrolet driver stopped and cooperated with investigators after the motorcycle crash on Johnson Avenue, police said.
