Teenage Boy Hurt in Crash on Southbound Highway 101 in San Jose
SAN JOSE, Calif. (May 24, 2021) — Jose Rufino, 15, was injured early Monday morning in a collision on Highway 101 in San Jose.
The collision happened about 2:08 a.m. on May 24th near State Route 87, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
The crash involved two vehicles in the Nos. 1 and 2 lanes of the highway. One of the vehicles may have crossed over from the northbound lanes into southbound lanes and hit the other vehicle, police said. However, the CHP report did not state how many people were in the vehicles involved.
The San Jose Fire Department responded and determined that Jose Rufino suffered a major head injury in the collision. Paramedics transported the teenager to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center for further treatment.
Meanwhile, investigators seek to determine the cause of the crash and liability.
Tow trucks removed the vehicles and debris scattered across the southbound lanes of Highway 101.
