Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-run Crash; Driver Benjamin Fernandez Arrested
HANFORD, Calif. (Nov. 7, 2022) – Joshua Kinser, 21, died in a Hanford hit-and-run pedestrian collision Friday night at Lacey Boulevard and 10th Avenue.
Additionally, the collision occurred about 9:40 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 5th, according to the Hanford Police Department.
Police responded to the intersection of Lacey Boulevard and 10th Avenue where they located the critically injured man in the roadway. Sadly, the young person died at the scene.
Meanwhile, witnesses saw a dark-colored sedan traveling north on 10th Avenue before the vehicle reportedly struck Joshua Kinser as he stepped into the roadway.
Police searched the area for the suspect’s vehicle, but were unable to locate it. However, Benjamin Fernandez, 21, turned himself in at the Hanford Police Department early Saturday morning and brought the involved vehicle.
Upon reviewing the facts and questioning the suspect, police arrested Benjamin Fernandez and booked him into Kings County jail. He faces charges of felony hit and run causing death and involuntary manslaughter.
