San Diego Man, 75, Killed on Pines to Palms Highway 74
PALM DESERT, Calif. (Feb. 29, 2024) — Kenneth Macho, 75, of San Diego, died in a crash Thursday afternoon on the Pines to Palms Highway 74, just west of Coachella Valley Vista Point in Palm Desert.
The two-vehicle collision occurred at around 12:32 p.m. on Feb. 29th, near Mile Marker 88, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The drivers of a red flatbed tow truck and a white Subaru were involved and traffic came to a stop in both directions, the CHP reported.
Paramedics responded to the scene to help at least one injured person from the collision. Unfortunately, the 75-year-old San Diego man identified as Kenneth Macho died at the scene, the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner said.
Tow trucks removed the Subaru and the tow truck from the roadway due to damage from the wreck.
Investigators are working to determine fault for the crash on Highway 74 in Palm Desert.
