Wrong-Way Driver Collision on the I-8 Freeway in La Mesa
LA MESA, Calif. (Sept. 15, 2022) — Two motorists collided on the westbound Interstate 8 Freeway Thursday morning near State Route 125 in the La Mesa area of San Diego County.
The crash took place about 10:42 a.m. on Sept. 15th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials report a gray Ford Mustang entered the I-8 Freeway traveling in the wrong direction in the slow lane. The vehicle hit at least one other motorist on the freeway underneath the SR-125 overpass. The other driver was in a white Toyota Highlander. Both the white Toyota and the Ford required tow trucks due to damage from the crash.
Meanwhile, paramedics responded due to possible injuries from the collision.
The report did not state how many were hurt or if anyone was hospitalized.
Finally, investigators are piecing together evidence and witness statements to determine fault.
