3 Killed in Head-on Crash on South Riverside Avenue in Rialto
Rialto, Calif. (June 30, 2021) – Lashon Gardner, 33, of Barstow, is one of the three people who died Monday morning in a head-on collision in Rialto.
The Rialto crash happened about 7:30 a.m. Monday, June 28, according to the Press Enterprise. A second passenger identified as Salvador Lopez, 20, of Fontana, and the driver of the car they were riding in, Guadalupe Noriega, 26, also died in the crash.
Three vehicles collided in the 2500 block of South Riverside Avenue near Santa Ana Avenue, police said.
A driver in a 2020 Nissan Altima was traveling southbound on Riverside Avenue heading towards Santa Ana Avenue. The car reportedly turned abruptly and accidentally clipped the back of a Dodge Ram pickup truck.
Next, the Nissan Altima swerved into oncoming northbound lanes where it crashed head-on into a box truck.
Rialto Car Crash Kills 3, Injures 1
The woman driving the Nissan and two of her three passengers all died at the scene.
Meanwhile, a 21-year-old Fontana woman also in the Nissan survived the crash with major injuries. Paramedics transported her to a local hospital.
Police closed down the roadway for the investigation. Witnesses are urged to contact police at (909) 421-4981.
